What To Expect From Your BikeClinique Service

What To Expect From Your BikeClinique Service

When you book your bike in for a service, you shouldn't need to cross your fingers and hope for the best. You should know exactly what's going to happen to your bike, who'll be working on it, and what you'll get back. This is what actually happens when you bring your bike to BikeClinique: whether it's a mobile appointment at your home or a drop-off at our Wimbledon workshop. Before You Book You can book online or by calling us directly. If you're not sure which service you need, tell us what the bike's doing: or not doing: and we'll recommend the right level. We don't upsell you to a full service if a basic adjustment will do. We'll tell you what it actually needs. You can add collection and delivery to any service if you're not able to bring the bike to us. When Your Bike Arrives Every bike that comes into our workshop: or every mobile appointment we attend: starts with the same step: a full inspection before we touch anything. We log the condition of every component. Tyres, brakes, chain, gears, headset, bottom bracket, wheels: everything. We note what's worn, what's damaged, and what's working correctly. This inspection record is yours. You'll receive it when you collect your bike, or we'll email it after a mobile appointment. What Happens During A Full Service (£220) A full service at BikeClinique takes approximately two hours of skilled work. Here's every step: Frame and fork inspection We check the frame and fork for bond integrity, paint cracks that might indicate impact damage, and thread condition. If something doesn't look right, we photograph it and tell you. Headset Removed, cleaned, bearing condition assessed, races inspected and re-greased, re-installed to the manufacturer's torque specification. Bottom bracket Removed, bearings inspected, shell cleaned, re-greased, re-installed to torque. If the bearings are worn, we tell you before we replace them. Drivetrain Chain removed, cleaned, chain stretch measured and recorded. We log the measurement: if your chain is approaching the wear limit, we tell you and give you a price before we replace it. We don't replace parts without your say-so. Cassette: each cog individually inspected. We look for the sharkfin wear pattern that indicates it's time to replace. Brakes Pads removed and measured. Rotors checked for warping or contamination. Calipers adjusted. After reassembly, we bed in your brakes and test stopping power. Gear cables Inspected. Replaced if there's any degradation (cable replacement is included in a full service). Lubricated throughout. Indexed from scratch: every limit screw, every barrel adjuster, tested across the full range. Wheels True checked on a tension meter. Spoke tension assessed. Hub bearings checked. If something needs attention, we tell you before we work on it. Tyres Wear pattern assessed. Sidewall condition checked. Pressure set to the correct figure for your bike and riding. Every bolt torqued Stem, seatpost, cranks, derailleur mounts: every bolt on the bike checked and torqued to the manufacturer's specification. This is not optional and it's not fast. After The Service Your bike goes through a final quality check before we sign off. We test every gear, every brake, spin every wheel. You'll receive a written inspection report: what we found, what we did, what we recommend watching for next time. If anything needs urgent attention: something that's a safety issue: we call you immediately. We don't wait until you pick the bike up. What You Should Know Parts: We only replace parts with your explicit approval. If something is borderline, we tell you. You decide. We never add parts to a bill without checking first. Time: A full service takes approximately two hours. We don't rush it. If we find something that needs more work, we'll tell you before we do it. Price: Our full service is £220. We also offer a standard service from £120 for less complex maintenance, and a pre-summer check from £45. Every price is on our website. Collection and delivery: Available. We come to you, work on your bike at your home or workplace, and leave it riding correctly. No effort required from you. Book Your Service Not sure what your bike needs? Send us a message: we'll tell you honestly what we think. Pre-summer check: thirty-one points: written report: no obligation quote. Visit bikeclinique.com.

When to book the bike in

Book the bike in when the fault affects safety, reliability or confidence. Brakes that feel weak, gears that skip under load, tyres with cuts, steering play, creaks from the bottom bracket area or a drivetrain that stays noisy after cleaning are all signs that the bike needs a workshop check rather than another quick adjustment at home.

For riders around Wimbledon, SW17 and South West London, the most common pattern is simple: the bike feels fine until it is used more often, ridden in bad weather or pushed on a longer route. That is when hidden wear shows up. A short inspection can prevent a chain from damaging a cassette, a brake fault from becoming dangerous, or a small bearing issue from turning into a bigger repair.

Bike Clinique works from diagnosis first. We check the issue, explain what is urgent, quote the parts and labour before fitting, and keep the recommendation practical for the bike and the way it is ridden.
