Had an incident? Concerned about your carbon?

A crash, a dropped bike, a knock in transit or a crack you cannot explain. If you have a concern about a carbon frame, bike or wheels, bring it to Bike Clinique for assessment.

We examine the areas of concern using carbon inspection techniques learned during specialist training and a digital microscope, then explain the findings and whether repair or further assessment is needed.

For any incident or carbon concern

You do not need to have had a major crash to ask us to inspect your bike. We welcome enquiries about carbon frames, bikes and wheels after any type of incident, or when something about their condition concerns you.

After an incident

  • A crash or collision.
  • A dropped bike, knock or other impact.
  • An incident during transport or handling.
  • Concern about carbon wheels after an impact.

When something looks wrong

  • A suspicious crack or surface mark.
  • A concern about an area of the frame.
  • Visible damage or a concern about a carbon wheel.
  • Uncertainty about whether a mark needs further investigation.

Course-trained assessment. A clear next step.

Freddie has completed carbon inspection training with Carbon Bike Repair UK in Leatherhead. The training covered carbon fracture identification and bike inspection.

At Bike Clinique, we use the techniques learned on the course and a digital microscope to examine areas of concern. We explain what the inspection indicates, whether a repair is needed and when further specialist investigation is the right next step.

What the health check can—and cannot—tell you

This is an assessment using the methods described here. It cannot rule out every internal or hidden defect and is not a structural safety certificate. If the findings are inconclusive, we will explain the limits rather than give you certainty we cannot support.

How to arrange your inspection

  1. Tell us what happened. Include the bike make and model, the frame or wheel area you are concerned about and any photos you have.
  2. Confirm the assessment. Choose the £40 assessment or £60 assessment with a written report. We will confirm the scope and visit details.
  3. Bring it to the SW17 workshop. We carry out the assessment and explain the findings and next steps.

Carbon bike and wheel inspection FAQs

Who should book a carbon bike health check?

Anyone concerned about a carbon frame, bike or carbon wheels after an incident, or because of a suspicious crack, mark or other issue, can request an inspection at Bike Clinique’s SW17 workshop. This includes crashes, collisions, dropped bikes, knocks and transport or handling incidents.

How much does a carbon bike inspection cost?

The carbon health check assessment costs £40. Assessment with a written report costs £60. Tell us what happened and which frame, bike or wheels you would like assessed so we can confirm the scope before your visit.

Can you inspect carbon wheels as well as frames?

Yes. Bike Clinique assesses carbon wheels for damage, as well as carbon frame and bike concerns. Tell us which wheel or area concerns you and what happened when you enquire.

What inspection methods do you use?

We use carbon assessment techniques learned during Carbon Bike Repair UK’s inspection training in Leatherhead, together with a digital microscope to examine areas of concern. We explain the findings and whether a repair or further specialist assessment is needed.

Can you tell whether a mark is a paint crack or carbon damage?

We can assess a suspicious crack or mark and explain what the inspection indicates. Where the available inspection does not settle the question, we will explain that further specialist assessment is needed rather than give a definite answer without enough evidence.

Does the health check guarantee that the carbon is free from hidden damage?

No. The health check assesses the areas and concerns presented using the methods described on this page. It cannot rule out every internal or hidden defect and is not a structural safety certificate.

What is the difference between the £60 report and an insurance report?

The £60 option adds a written report to the current carbon assessment. It is not sold as an insurance report or as insurer-approved evidence. A more in-depth service, including insurance reports, is planned for 2027 and is not currently available.

Do you repair carbon damage as part of the assessment?

The advertised service is an assessment, with an optional written report, not a carbon repair. We explain whether repair or further specialist assessment is needed. Any next work and cost must be agreed separately.

Where do I bring my carbon bike or wheels?

Inspections take place at Bike Clinique, Unit 1, The Swan Centre, Rosemary Road, London SW17 0AR. Riders are welcome to enquire wherever they live; the assessment itself is carried out at this workshop. Contact us to confirm your visit and timing.

Is the carbon health check the same as the free bike safety check?

No. The carbon health check is a dedicated paid assessment of carbon concerns, costing £40 or £60 with a written report. The separate free bike safety check is a general workshop check and does not replace a carbon assessment.
