Etnnic Electric Trike FAQ — Everything You Need to Know
Everything you need to know about the Etnnic electric trike range — from licensing to range, warranty to wet weather use. If you have a question not covered here, contact the BikeClinique team.
1. Who is the Etnnic electric trike designed for?
The Etnnic electric trike is designed for adults who want the freedom of cycling without the challenge of balancing on two wheels. It is particularly popular with riders aged 50 and above, people recovering from injury or managing reduced mobility, and anyone who has found traditional bicycles difficult or intimidating. Because Etnnic trikes are three-wheeled with a low centre of gravity, they offer exceptional stability while still delivering the joy and independence of electric cycling. The range spans three models: the city-focused Etnnic 3.0, the double-suspension Fst Evo for all-terrain use, and the compact, foldable Mova for urban commuters.
2. Do I need a driving licence for an electric trike in the UK?
No. Etnnic electric trikes are classified as EPACs (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles) under UK law. This means they comply with EU Regulation (EU) 168/2013, which governs electric bikes with a maximum continuous rated power of 250W and a top speed of 25 km/h. As long as your Etnnic trike meets these specifications — which all three models do — you do not need a driving licence, vehicle tax, or insurance to ride it on public roads. You also do not need to register it with the DVLA. However, we recommend taking out personal liability insurance, which is widely available through cycling organisations.
3. What is the range of the Etnnic electric trike on one charge?
The Etnnic 3.0 and Etnnic Fst Evo both offer a maximum range of up to 120 km on a single charge, though real-world range typically falls between 70 and 90 km depending on terrain, rider weight, tyre configuration, and how much you use the motor. The Etnnic Mova delivers up to 100 km of range. All models use the same battery technology, so range is consistent across the board. If you plan to do longer routes regularly, the Fst Evo with its larger tyre options may offer a slight edge in real-world comfort over distance.
4. How long does the Etnnic battery take to charge?
All Etnnic models use a 48V lithium battery and charge in approximately 4 to 6 hours from empty using the included charger. The battery is removable, so you can charge it indoors or in a garage without bringing the trike inside. We recommend charging after each ride to maintain battery health and longevity.
5. Is the Etnnic electric trike stable enough for beginners?
Yes — this is one of Etnnic’s core design strengths. All three Etnnic models feature a three-wheel configuration (two rear, one front) with a deliberately low centre of gravity, giving natural stability without the need to balance. The hydraulic disc brakes provide confident stopping power even on wet surfaces, and the wide tyre options on the Adventure and FAT versions further increase stability. Most new riders find they feel confident within the first few minutes of riding. The Etnnic 3.0 in City trim is particularly beginner-friendly with its smooth tyres and upright riding position.
6. What warranty does Etnnic offer?
Etnnic offers a 3-year warranty on all non-consumable parts of their electric trikes. This covers the frame, motor, battery controller, and other major components. Consumable parts such as tyres, brake pads, and chain are not covered under warranty but are readily available from BikeClinique. The warranty is valid from the date of purchase and is transferrable to a second owner if you sell the trike.
7. Can the Etnnic trike be used in rain?
Yes. All Etnnic models are designed for all-weather use. The electric motor and battery systems are sealed to IP54 standards, meaning they are protected against water splashes from any direction. The hydraulic disc brakes perform reliably in wet conditions, and the full-coverage mudguards keep you drier on wet roads. You should avoid submerging the battery or motor, and after particularly heavy rain or washing, it is good practice to dry the connectors and check brake function before riding.
