Groupset Compatibility Guide

Groupset Compatibility Guide

Before you order a groupset, check the standards that matter. If you are not sure, Bike Clinique will check the bike before quoting or ordering parts.

1. Will this groupset work on my bike?

The big checks are frame type, brake standard, bottom bracket, wheel/freehub, cable routing and whether the bike can accept electronic wiring or wireless components.

  • Brake standard: rim brake and disc brake groupsets are not interchangeable.
  • Bottom bracket: crank compatibility depends on shell and axle standard.
  • Wheel/freehub: 11 and 12-speed setups may need a different cassette body.
  • Cable routing: some frames make electronic conversion cleaner than others.

2. Shimano 12-speed

Shimano 105 and Ultegra 12-speed can be an excellent upgrade from older 10/11-speed mechanical setups, but brake type, wheel standard and frame routing need checking first.

3. SRAM AXS

AXS is wireless at the shifters and derailleurs, which can simplify some builds. Battery, charger, cassette range and freehub compatibility still need checking.

4. Di2 battery and wiring

Di2 builds need a sensible battery location and clean wire routing where relevant. Some frames are simple. Others need a careful inspection before quoting.
