Shimano GRX Groupset London
The definitive gravel groupset. Shimano GRX is built for the way roads actually feel — not just ideal tarmac conditions. We spec, install, and tune GRX setups for London gravel riders.
Shimano GRX Range — What We Fit
GRX 400 — 10-speed
The entry point to gravel-specific shifting. 10-speed, hydraulic disc brakes, wide-range gearing. Ideal for riders moving from road to gravel who want confidence on mixed terrain without the price of electronic shifting.
Full groupset fit from £650
GRX 600 — 11-speed
The sweet spot of the GRX range. 11-speed, Semi-Link suspension dampening in the rear derailleur (reduces chain bounce on rough terrain), hydraulic disc brakes. The choice of serious gravel riders who want performance without electronic shifting cost.
Full groupset fit from £900
GRX 800 — 12-speed Di2
The flagship. 12-speed electronic Di2 shifting, Synchro Shift programmable shifting, Semi-Link suspension, hydraulic disc. GRX Di2 is the benchmark gravel groupset at any price point — and the one most of our custom gravel builds end up spec'd.
Full groupset fit from £1,400
GRX 800 Di2 + Carbon Wheels — Our Most Popular Gravel Build
We've spec'd this combination for dozens of London riders making the switch to gravel. The carbon wheels cut rotational weight, the GRX Di2 handles shifting under load on rough descents, and the hydraulic brakes work in any weather.
Groupset + wheels build from £2,200
Why London Riders Choose GRX
- ✅ GRX was designed for 35-50mm tyres — exactly what London gravel riders run
- ✅ Wide-range gearing (40t rear, 46/31 or 48/31 front) — built for real gradients, not Tour de France climbs
- ✅ Disc brake flat mount standard — works with every modern gravel frame
- ✅ Electronic shifting available at every level — upgrade when you're ready
- ✅ GRX Di2 Synchro Shift: front derailleur shifts automatically with rear shifts — one lever does everything
Common Questions
Can I upgrade my road bike to GRX?
Yes, in most cases. GRX uses the same bottom bracket standards as Shimano road (Hollowtech II), so compatibility with most road frames is straightforward. The key question is whether your frame has disc brake mounts and clearances for 35-40mm tyres. We check this before quoting.
GRX 600 vs GRX 800 Di2 — which is worth the jump?
GRX 600 mechanical is a superb groupset and most riders will never feel limited by it. The jump to GRX 800 Di2 is about the shifting experience — instant, precise, under all conditions — not raw performance. If you've ridden Di2 before, GRX Di2 is worth it. If you haven't, try GRX 600 first.
Can you build a custom gravel bike with GRX?
Yes. Full custom gravel builds with GRX are one of our most requested setups. Frame selection, carbon wheels, GRX spec — we handle everything. Builds typically take 2-3 weeks from component sourcing to final tune.
What about Campagnolo Ekar?
Ekar is Campagnolo's 1x13 gravel groupset — excellent, but parts availability in London is limited. We service Ekar but for most riders GRX is the more practical choice: wider service network, more mechanic familiarity, easier parts sourcing.
