Common Questions

How much does a bike groupset upgrade cost in London?

Groupset upgrades in London typically start from £300 for installation of a new Shimano 105 mechanical groupset, up to £2,500+ for a full SRAM Red eTap AXS wireless build. Most club riders upgrading from entry-level find Shimano Ultegra Di2 at £1,800-£2,200 installed to be the sweet spot.

Can you upgrade any bike?

Almost any bike can be upgraded — the limiting factor is compatibility. We assess your frame, bottom bracket standard, cable routing, and brake mount type before recommending upgrades. Some older frames have limited upgrade paths — we'll tell you honestly before you spend anything.

How long does an upgrade take?

Mechanical groupset installation: 2-4 hours. Electronic shifting (Di2/eTap): 3-5 hours. Full custom build: 1-2 weeks from component sourcing to final tune. We'll give you a clear timeline before we start.

Do you fit parts I supply myself?

Yes. Bring your own components and we'll fit them — you only pay labour. We check everything is compatible before we start work.

Is my bike worth upgrading?

Honest answer: it depends. A £500 bike with an entry-level groupset? Upgrading to a mid-tier groupset (£400-£600 in parts) can make sense if the frame is good. A bike over 8-10 years old? The frame and wheels may be holding back the upgrade so much that a full new bike makes more sense. We'll tell you the truth — even if it means we do less business.
